Yukina Ieda is old. She knows her time in the world is coming to an end. She can feel it in her bones. And yet, she has regrets. There are parts of her past she wishes to rectify before her time comes. And so, along with her youngest son (despite his protests) she hops of a ship bound for the cold, harsh, land of Nuwhil - the place of her birth that she had abandoned so long ago.
Her mission: to reconnect with two of her children who had moved there after her husband had been killed and their family was shattered, and to make peace with her tribe that she had not had contact with since her youth.
She arrives in the north to find that it has changed. She cannot decide if it is for the better. The tribes have a tenuous peace, but to what end? And there are rumors of ancient creatures stirring in the darkest places of the land. Her travels home prove to be more than she bargained for.
Does she have the strength left to see her task through to the end?
